First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Joseph’s brothers are back in Cannan, and the famine continues. In Genesis 43:2, Jacob instructs his sons, “Go back, buy us a little food.” However, Joseph had warned his brothers that they must bring their youngest brother Benjamin when they returned to Egypt. This younger brother is important to Joseph as he is the one brother that shares the same mother as he does. Jacob reluctantly consents to allowing Benjamin to go on the journey with his brothers to Egypt to buy grain.

Upon arrival in Egypt, Joseph saw Benjamin and instructs his house steward to prepare a meal for the men and bring them into the house. Still unaware this was their brother, the men were afraid.

After asking the brothers about the welfare of their father, Joseph sets his eyes on his brother Benjamin, his youngest mother’s son, and says to the young man “May God be gracious to you, my son.” Joseph became deeply emotional over his brother and hurried to his chamber and wept there. After collecting himself he returns and has his brothers seated in a manner that no Egyptian would know, they would be seated by age. Joseph makes sure Benjamin is taken care of; he gets five times more food than the others. Joseph has not yet revealed his identity, but he has sure given his brothers a lot to ponder. Greater days are on the horizon as God orchestrates a great family reunion.
