The LW Women’s Golf Club plays a 9-hole tournament every Tuesday morning. Only a handful of women made it Dec. 24 for the regular Tuesday tournament. Each week there is a different game such as birdies, putts, chip ins and circle hole. There are four flights that are determined by handicap. Flight A has handicaps from 1-5, flight B is 6-7. This means players compete against others with similar handicaps. But really it is not the competition. It’s the friendships that are formed. The idea is to have a good time. Occasionally players might win a dollar.

Dues are $30 a year. This lets members play in most of the tournaments. There is the occasional special tournament. There are meetings and lunches also. A good chance to socialize and get some exercise.

Linda Herman stated, “I had never golfed before moving to Leisure World. I never thought I’d ever golf but it is here so I went out and attempted to play. I say attempted because it’s not that easy. I remember the groundskeepers standing behind trees when I would tee off. They were safer there. But I didn’t give up and got the bug. It’s a great game. Give it a try.”
