LW Woman’s Club celebrates the new year Jan. 7

Celebrate the new year with The Woman’s Club of Leisure World at the first general meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 7, in Clubhouse 2. Doors will open at 1 p.m., meeting starts at 1:30.The club’s philanthropic organization this month is On The Day You Were Born. They arrange birthday celebrations for children who otherwise would not have a party. Representatives will attend and provide an overview of their organization. The Woman’s Club will then present a check to On the Day You Were Born to support its endeavors. Members can may bring monetary donations in cash or checks payable “For the Child,” with On The Day in the memo section. Members can also bring some suggested items: Spider-Man, Batman, dinosaurs, Hot Wheels, Legos, Disney princesses, Minnie Mouse, puzzles (3-5 years) games, coloring books, crayons, crafts (4-7 years), or children’s wrapping paper (full rolls only) to donate.

Entertainment will be by Michael Hanna. He has a baritone/ tenor voice and performs a wide variety of music including rock and roll, oldies, country, ‘70s and ‘80s Pop and Broadway favorites. He has appeared with Dick Dale and The Del Tones.
