Learn how to create a family emergency communication plan
LW COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
The LW Community Emergency Response Team’s (LW CERT) safety class will focus on Family Emergency Communication Plans on Friday, Jan. 24, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 9 a.m. LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien will lead the class. Residents are encouraged to attend. Topics include ways to organize key contact information for family and other important people. Having a family communication plan in place is critical in the aftermath of a disaster.
LW CERT’s free FEMA-informed monthly safety classes are 45 minutes long and all residents are welcome to join. Refreshments are provided.
In November’s class on holiday safety, residents learned about common types of injuries that tend to occur during the holidays. The focus was on avoiding trips and falls, and how to be safe when cooking and decorating. Fire prevention devices such as fire blankets and fire extinguishers were discussed, along with an emergency lighting device called Blackout Buddy. All of these items are at the Purchasing Department in the Maintenance yard.
