Humanist Association
The Leisure World Humanist Association will meet on Sunday, Dec. 1, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at 10:30 am.
Guest speaker will be Craig Hendricks, a retired history teacher from Long Beach State University. Hendricks has spoken at Leisure World several times before and is always an informative and entertaining speaker. He has a broad understanding of history, politics and is an expert on the history of Long Beach.
During the meeting, the Humanist Association will analyze what a second Donald Trump presidency will mean for the country and the world. Hendricks will address questions including what will be the ecological and economic consequences of climate change with a climate denier as president? How will the relationship with close allies change? How will tariffs that will make imports more expensive for consumers affect our economy? How much of Project 2025 will Trump be able to enact?
Hendricks will also discuss what changes the Democratic Party needs to make to win the next election and more.
Hendricks taught a wide variety of history classes at Long Beach City College and CSU-Long Beach for three decades until his happy retirement in 2010. He is the joint author of several textbooks and readers, and has worked on federal education grants with school districts in Southern California since 1990. His current research interests focus on the development of the city and port of Long Beach during the 20th century.
