Despite the storm and rains, the LW Art League meeting on Jan. 10 was surprisingly well attended. The demonstrator and judge at the meeting was art professor Katie Stubblefield, who also teaches NOCE painting classes in Leisure World. At the meeting, Susie Ralston announced that she is stepping down as president of the LW Art League but will temporarily stay on if nobody comes forward to succeed her as president. Jay Young, the vice president of programs, is also stepping down but will temporarily stay on until a successor for his position is found. He will also serve as LW Art League co-president and will assume Ralston’s duties and responsibilities in her absence.

Lucie Garabedian joined as new member and 2023 membership renewal dues were also collected at the meeting.

At the Jan. 10 meeting, Shel Magnuson won best of show. In masters, Carol Levine took first place, Rosie Grogan took second, and Carmen Leslie took third.

In the intermediate/ advancedsection,MarilynJonas won first, Judy Sherratt won second, Pamela Lynn Farnell won third, and Diana Harrison got an honorable mention. In the three-dimensional, digital and mixed media section, Ramayana Baba won first, Linda Frysinger won second, Racquel Tal won third and Baba received an honorable mention. The popular vote winner was Marilyn Jonas.
