Message From the Pastor
Is there any hope for mankind?
The Lord sent Adam out of from the garden of Eden with instructions to cultivate the ground. Adam and his wife brought forth children. Upon the birth of Cain, the firstborn son, Eve said, “I have gotten a man-child with the help of the Lord.”
Eve bore another son. Abel was a tender of sheep and Cain was a tiller of the ground. One day, and Cain brought an offering of fruit to the Lord, while Abel brought the firstborn of his flock. Abel’s offering is respected by the Lord, but Cain’s is not. Cain becomes very disgruntled and angry.
Genesis 4:8 records the results of Cain’s anger, “Now Cain talked with Abel his brother, and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against his brother and killed him.”
In this account the ugliness of sin is a brother killing his brother. Ultimately, as history unfolds, the wickedness, lawlessness, ungodliness and evil continues to run about uncontrolled; even today.
But as God promised, he did not forsake mankind completely. Eventually a son is born in the city of Bethlehem in a lowly stable. His name is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God.
Through Christ, there is hope for mankind. Any man that wishes to have his sins washed away has only to acknowledge the gift sent from above as the true and living God. Before this month is finished, as it has been the custom for two millenniums, Christians will celebrate God’s gift by gathering in homes, and churches around the world to recall the true meaning of Christmas; the hope for mankind.
