Men’s Golf League Results: Oct. 28 and Oct. 31

Friday Golf

Ten golfers from the Men’s Golf League played Oct. 28 at the always challenging 5,800yard, par 70 Riverview Golf Course in Santa Ana. Riverview has a large golf practice facility and a huge putting green. Its snack bar is always open. The course allowed just five of the 10 golfers to shoot net below par. Dave LaCascia had the only birdie and was closest to the pin on both the second and ninth par 3’s.

A Flight (handicaps 0-19):

First place: Sam Choi, 5 under 65; second: tie between Dave LaCascia and Clay Fischer, 4 under 66; third: Bill McKusky, 1 over 71; fourth: Gary Stivers, with fewest putts; fifth: tie between Fujio Norihiro and Chris Lankford.

B Flight (handicaps 20 and over): First place: Gene Vesely, 12 under 58, fewest putts; second: Lowell Goltra, 2 under 68; third: Digna Vesely, 1 over 71.

Monday Golf

Nine golfers from the Leisure World Men’s Golf League played Oct. 31 at the 5,600-yard par 70 Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach. With significant elevation changes, large water hazards and tree lined fairways, it challenges all.

Winners: A Flight (handicaps 0-19): First place: Clay Fischer, a terrific 4 under 66, with three birdies; second: Chris Lankford, 2 over 72; third: Fujio Norihiro, 3 over 73; fourth: Sam Choi, plus a birdie and fewest putts; fifth: tie between Gary Stivers a Bill McKusky.

B Flight (handicaps 20 and over): First place: Bob Munn, even par 70, and closest to the pin on the 140-yard par 3 seventh hole; second: Gene Vesely, 2 over 72; third: Digna Vesely, plus fewest putts.

The Monday and Friday Golf Leagues play at four local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round. There is a prize pool for each round that players are not obligated to enter. Rewards are given for low net in each flight, birdies, closest to the pin on two par threes, and for the lowest number of putts in each flight. Holes-inone and Eagles are generously rewarded. If interested, contact Gary Stivers, 714-313-3697 or Dave LaCascia, 801-674-5975.
