Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursdays, from 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. upstairs in Clubhouse 6, and has multiple leaders who take turns leading the class.

The club recently welcomed a new leader, Noly Anglo, who enjoys teaching beautiful dance movements alongside other leaders: Albert and Gladys Comia, Jojo Weingart, Caryn Lynn Stel, Kelly Johnson, Anna Derby, Chung Cha Lewis, George Pinada and Sunny Kim. Each leader brings a different approach when teaching a class. Carmel Atkinson’s “Jo and Jo tango” and “Straight Cha Cha” set the mood in the beginning of the class, followed by Pinada’s “I’m Alive,” “Blue Roses” and “Spanish Blue Eyes.” “Bailando Boogaloo” and “Carinito” are led by the club’s president Anna Derby. Kim leads “Summer Night Cha Cha,” “Mambo Number Five” and helps others if needed. Johnson and Stel lead members’ favorite line dances such as “Watermelon Crawl,” “Wild Wild Horse,” and “God Bless Texas.”

While Albert and Gladys Comia take time off from teaching, Weingart fills in with her artistic style line dance loved by many for the next two weeks.

For safety and health concerns, classes are limited to 35 people, first come, first served basis. Face masks are strongly recommended. Exercise shoes are recommended; no sandals or flip flops are allowed. Anyone wearing inappropriate footwear will be turned away. No fees or membership required.
