Leisure World residents are invited to attend the next monthly meeting of the LW Genealogy Club on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m., with social time begining at 9:30, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Guest speaker Lisa Baker will give a presentation on family search and tips on using the FamilySearch Library. Baker is the assistant director of the Hemet Family History Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She also serves on the board of directors of the Hemet/San Jacinto Genealogical Society as the treasurer and director of communications, maintaining the Society’s website and newsletter. She has been researching her own family for over 25 years when she began looking into her mother’s family and discovered that her German roots extended back to the 1500s.

The Library is open from 1-4 p.m. for club members to do research on the computers that have programs available, including Ancestry, Fold 4, and International subscriptions. Hours may vary due to volunteer availability. Club librarian Nancy Westcott has reorganized all of the books, which is very much appreciated.

Volunteers are still needed for the Christmas Luncheon Committee; contact the Genealogy Club email for more information.
