Shuffleboard St. Patrick’s party plans in the works
The Shuffleboard Club St. Patrick’s Day potluck will be held on Tuesday, March 17, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, from 5-9 p.m. A special bingo game will be played after dinner. Members are encouraged to don “the wearing of the green.”
The potluck is always a favorite for members, who each year enjoy Jack O’Brien’s corned beef, which he prepares at home in advance and transports to the clubhouse. Depending on the attendance any given year, that can mean a lot of cooking.
The rest of the food is brought by members, each dish enough to feed 8-10 people. Sally Foster and the rest of the Planning Committee make sure the room is dotted with shamrocks, leprechauns and other symbols of Irish folklore. The committee consists of Jack O’Brien, Mary Lund, Sally Foster and Ellie West.
The recent change in open play time was announced at the general membership meeting held March 2. The first Monday of each month open play will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. so members can attend the membership meeting scheduled that same day at 10. Open play the rest of the Mondays in any given month will be held from 9-11 a.m. The last day of winter league is Friday, March 13.
